Trip to the Operating Room

You and your child will be called down to the operating room about 15-30 minutes prior to surgery About 15-30 minutes prior to the scheduled time of surgery, the Operating Room will call to nurses' station on the Pediatric Surgery Floor and make sure you and your child are ready to go. If you are accompanying your child into the operating room, you will be asked to cover your street clothes with a clean hospital gown.

Take the elevator to the 2nd floor A nursing assistant from the operating room will meet you on the 9th floor and escort you to the operating room floor. You can request a wheelchair to ride and carry your little one to the OR, but most young patients want to walk themselves. So far, it seems like little more than a trip to the doctor's office!
