The multi-disciplinary specialty care offered by the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery is recognized for clinical excellence. The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary is the academic center for the Department of Otolaryngology at New York Medical College and consists of six affiliated hospitals in the resident training program. Formal training in Otolaryngology in the US began in this Department shortly after the founding of The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1820.

Currently, more than 105,000 outpatient visits and 9,800 patient surgeries are performed annually within the academic Department. At The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, approximately 65,000 outpatient visits are conducted and 4,500 surgical procedures performed yearly.
