Admitting

PATIENT REGISTRAR
Responsible for registration of private and emergency patients to all clinics; Process admissions quickly & accurately in a professional manner.  Patient demographic and insurance information data entry into Meditech system.  Obtain medical records for patients previously seen.  Assist patients with forms.  Communicating to other departments to ensure placement of patients.  High School Diploma or Equivalent required (some college coursework preferred).  Computer skills, knowledge of hospital setting also required.  Customer service experience and knowledge of third party payers preferred.  Bilingual a plus.  PER DIEM POSITION

Ambulatory Care

RECEPTIONIST
Responsibilities include answering and screening phone calls; scheduling appointments; greeting patients; obtains and processes necessary information regarding appointments and cancellations. Data entry and output; prints reports. Maintains office filing system and/or patient chart system. Processes receipts; checks and prepares patient charts. Other duties as assigned by department head. 1-2 years experience in a service office environment. High school diploma. Bilingual preferred. Some knowledge of computers and good communication skills. PHYSICIANS ASSISTANT
Responsibilities include evaluating and treating adult and pediatric patients in the ENT clinic, under the supervision of an Otolarygologist. Performs admission and preadmission histories and physicals and minor procedures as assigned. Assists in the handling of patient care and personnel emergencies Performs pre-employment physical, evaluates and treats employees who become ill or injured at work. Develops and/or participates in pilot studies, research projects and quality improvement activities. Draws blood, inserts catheters, intravenous lines and heparin locks, injects contrast dyes, approved IV meds, changes surgical dressings prescribes medications and other tests and treatments as part of the evaluation, care and treatment of patients as directed by their supervising physician. Perform other related duties as required by the supervising physician. Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program required. Certification/ Licensure as a registered PA by the New York State Education Department. Must be ACLS certified. Competent in surgical assisting for ENT cases. INFECTION PREVENTION MANAGER
Responsible for overseeing all aspects on the Infection Prevention/Control Program. Initiates implements, monitors and evaluates Infection Prevention standards throughout The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary; consistented with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. Ensures compliance with NYS, NYC, OSHA and The Joint commission requirements. Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field required. Current NYS nursing license. APIC certification and a minimum of 3 years experience in Infection Prevention. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs. Additional educational preparation is desirable in the areas of Epidemiology. Membership in professional organizations. FULL-TIME POSITION

NURSING ASSISTANT
Responsibilities include providing nursing care under supervision of Registered Nurse(s) that is consistent with the Philosophy and goals of the Nursing department and patient care unit. Transport of post-anesthesia patients; Assists in clerical functions and assist in additional assignments as determined by Nurse in charge. May be floated or cross-trained to other patient’s units. Must be computer literate. Nursing Assistant Certification, High School Diploma, basic heart support, BCLS or HeartSaver required. Certification of EKG and Phlebotomy required. Central Supply

ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR
Responsible for gathering data to assist the Supervisor in the administration of the financial resources of the department. Relieves the Supervisor in his/her absence. Under the direction of the supervisor coordinates strategies for review, revision and implementation of policies and procedures. Acts as a communication agent for the department, attends intra and interdepartmental meeting as needed. Conducts and coordinates staff meetings and promotes multidirectional information flow was needed. Assurances that departmental activities are recorded and distributed as appropriate. Maintains operating rooms par level and inventory; helps process and sterilized gowns for the OR. Monitors sterilizers to make sure proper sterilization was achieved. Coordinates with nursing when a new product is introduced. Certification in sterile processing & distribution. Previous central supply service & materials management experience. College graduate preferred and computer literate. FULL-TIME POSITION / MON - FRI / 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Food & Nutrition

DIETITIAN
Responsible for screening patients for nutrition risk, assessing patients found to be at risk. Documenting follow up interactions, creating nutrition care plans and modifing as needed. Developing implements and evaluates nutritional care for patients. Modifying therapeutic menus based on diet orders and patient request. Reviewing patient’s menus for completeness and accuracy. Conducting meal rounds and supervising food service staff. Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition Sciences. Registered Dietitian with the committee on Dietetic Registration. Certified Dietitian; Nutritionist New York State. Hospital experience preferred. Experience with JCAHO a plus. PER-DIEM POSITION 6:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. / WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS REQUIRED

Medical Records

CODING MANAGER
Review and supervise all coding and coders to facilitate accurate claims and appropriate reimbursement for the Infirmary. Review medical records to ensure that coding and billing of these services is appropriate. Perform data quality reviews on coding of inpatient, ambulatory care and outpatient visits. Identify coding issues related to incomplete or missing documentation. Attend revenue cycle, charge master, and other related committee meetings. Coding Certification, CCS or CPC-H required. RHIA or RHIT credentials is preferred. Minimum of 3 years progressive coding or coding review experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS is required. Claims processing knowledge of data management responsibilities a plus. Prior auditing experience or strong training background in coding and reimbursement preferred. FULL-TIME POSITION/ MON.-FRI. 9:00A.M.-5:00P.M.

Ophthalmology

IT SYSTEMS & SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Responsible for assisting end users with general IT related problems; installing, configuring and maintaining equipment throughout the department; and troubleshooting of common hardware problems, including printers, monitors and input devices (for all practice sites). Bachelor's Degree and knowledge of PC and MAC computers required. 3 + years experience in Microsoft operating system. FULL-TIME POSITION

CERTIFIED OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT
Responsibilities include compiling patient history, measuring visual acuity, refractometry, performing visual fields and recording patient history, according to standards established by the Infirmary. Must have background in ophthalmology (JCAHPO and technical certification preferred but not required). Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage needed. Otolaryngology

PHYSICIAN TEAM MEMBER - WILLIAMSBURG SATELLITE SITE
Primarily responsible for handling all phone interactions associated with team physician. Responsibilities include checking patients in/out, exam room preparation, patient services, preparing patient data, preparing charts, and running reports. Will also provide coverage for other staff members. Must have Bachelor’s Degree, Medical Assistant Certificate, OR 3+ years experience in customer care setting with at least 1 year in a busy multi-physician office environment. Otolaryngology office experience preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment required. Strong multi-tasking skills required. Must have good computer skills, working knowledge of Medical Manager, MS Office and Meditech Software(s) preferred. Excellent verbal, written and communication skills required. Responsible for supervising the daily operations of an Otolaryngology practice and assisting departmental management with planning and process improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with excellent organizational skills. Working knowledge of MS Office required; working knowledge of Meditech software preferred. PATHOLOGIST'S ASSISTANT
Responsible for assisting the Pathologists in all phases of their work relating to the receipt, recording, description, dissection, and processing of tissue specimens from the patients, which allows the preparation, dissemination and archiving of diagnostic or consultation reports. Physician’s Assistant or Pathologist’s Assistant Degree preferred.  At least 1 year of experience as a Pathologist’s Assistant in a similar clinical setting. The Pathologist's Assistant will exercise discretion regarding clinical information proceeded throughout the department which may be provided to or reported by the laboratories with which he or she has contact.
