
NEW YORK, NY (July 2012) -- John M. Aljian, MD, has been named to the newly created position of Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He joins J. Robert Rosenthal, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, in the Medical Affairs division.
Dr. Aljian is co-director of NYEEI’s Eye Trauma Service and a dedicated medical educator who instructs residents in cataract, cornea, and laser surgery in addition to ocular trauma. A graduate of UMDNJ- New Jersey Medical School, he is an alumnus of NYEEI’s Ophthalmology Residency Program and completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at Metropolitan Cornea Institute in NJ. He holds certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as numerous professional memberships and has received a number of teaching awards.
