3rd Annual Benefit Event for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Orthoptics

NEW YORK, NY (April 2012) -- On Sunday June 10, from Noon to 3:30 PM, NYEE will present “CHAMBER MAGIC,” a private performance by Steve Cohen, known as “The Millionaires’ Magician.”

This third annual benefit for NYEE Pediatric Ophthalmology and Orthoptics will take place at The Yale Club, sponsored by NYEE trustee Edward Nowak and The Walt Disney Company, and hosted by our “Special Ambassadors” Lillian Pravda (age 12) and Austin Pearce (age 14.)

Over the past few years, Lillian and Austin have raised nearly $125,000, with contributions from family, friends, school fundraisers and two previous benefit events. Lillian’s “Vision for and from Children Fund” and “The Austin Pearce Kids’ Ophthalmology Fund” help support NYEE research into eye diseases that affect children, and costs related to pediatric eye surgeries, including supplies and equipment. In 2011, these remarkable young people were showcased in the Wall Street Journal story “Seeing Eye-to-Eye to Aid Patients,” in which NYEE President D. McWilliams Kessler noted “It’s not just the money, it’s the example that they are setting, for others, and adults, too.” For event information, call the Department of Development & External Affairs: 212-979-4019.
